Professor Shahzad Ashraf, head of department of Transplant Surgery (Kidney) of Sheikh Zayed Medical Complex (SZMC), has approached the Lahore High Court against relaxing the eligibility criteria for appointment process of Chairman SZMC. The petitioner through his counsel contended that the eligibility criteria had been relaxed by the Punjab government in violation of a reported judgment of the LHC and decisions of the Board of Governors (BoG) of the SZMC.

He submitted that the government had altered the minimum eligibility criteria set for the post with mala fide intention to accommodate some blue-eyed candidates. The petitioner asked the court to seek an explanation from the government for altering relaxing the eligibility criteria and suspend the appointment process till disposal of the petition.
